Islington Art & Design Fair Exhibitor: Barbara Wakefield

The Islington Contemporary Art & Design Fair at the Candid Arts Galleries is a showcase for Artists and designers to promote and sell their work, showing work in pre-booked exhibition space.
My forms were handbuilt using porcelain and bone china clays. Thinly rolled sheets of clay are folded, scrolled, assembled and fired to 1260 °C. Sizes range from 10cm to 38cm in height. I achieve translucency where the clay is particularly thin providing a dynamic of light and shadow, positive and negative space.
My sketches of musicians at concerts indicate one source of inspiration for my work in clay.
